I went to San Francisco on a 5-day work trip over Halloween Weekend. Nothing describes why I love this city more than my last day. After 4 days of working all morning, touring all afternoon, and going out at night, Sunday was a day of rest. It started with sleeping in and checking out of my hotel, the Metro Hotel. I met Jean for brunch at Stacks in Hayes Valley, a hip neighborhood filled with cute doggies, good-looking people, and Sunday noontime brunchers taking advantage of the pedestrian atmosphere in bay area perfect weather.
After a stack of banana pancakes and fritatas, we walked to Golden Gate Park. It felt good to walk off our food, which SF is known for serving up great meals. On our way I noticed a lot of bikers and even bicycle traffic lights. If only I had a bike my day would have been more than perfect. Nonetheless, we arrived at the park, laid out a scarf, and laid under the sun. I enjoyed good conversation and loved that this was simple and chill.

I sat there on a small hill with a slight angle allowed me to effortlessly look at the blue sky. Not a cloud was to be seen. I reflected on my old life in Chicago and new life in DC and pondered the “what ifs” of a life in SF. How would SF change the DC A-typeness that has built upon my Midwestern roots? How is being gay or Asian American or both different here than in Chicago/ DC? What would be my favorite neighborhood? I decided that I need to live in SF at some point in my life. I love this town!
