Phill This, Phill That

My 3rd Month In

This weekend marks my 3rd month in Washington, DC.

I’m still fascinated by the people and places in this town. I’ll be riding my bike to work, turn my head to look for traffic when I cross an intersection, and my eyes will catch a glimpse of something amazing. It might be the view of the Washington Monument from all over town, or the White House down 16th Street, or the many statues and museum architecture, but it is beautiful and incites a feeling of patriotism in me for the beauty of our nation.

The news is driving me crazy. People live in DC for news about politics. The East coast is an hour ahead of everywhere else and in DC we get direct updates about everything in Congress and the White House. News has exploded and imploded this week. We’re pursuing a win in Afghanistan, discussing climate change and energy, and fighting republican bull crap about health care, while still struggling to make jobs and hang in there. In local news, DC is very likely to have same sex marriage and I don’t mean “likely” as if it were California, Main, or New York. It will happen!

Thus, all I need to do is find someone to marry— yeah right!! I already have pre-anxiety about finding a new job once my fellowship ends in 7 months. I really want to keep the adventure going and move somewhere I’ve never been. It has come time to decide on a plan to further my career by furthering my education: Am I going to law school?

Today was nice. I had 5 Guys with 1 nice guy and set up a Christmas Tree for my household. I was determined to have a tree since it’s my first Christmas at my first lease. I love the Christmas Spirit, hate the long lines for shopping, and wish you a Happy Holidays!
